Jakarta –
David Luiz was rewarded with a red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arsenal legend Ian Wright sympathized with the incident.
The Wolves vs Arsenal match at the Molineux Stadium of the Premier League continued, Wednesday (2/3/2021) WIB early in the morning, ended badly for the visitors. The Gunners collapsed with a score of 1-2.
In that match, Arsenal, who had won first, had to finish the match with nine people. Two of his players, David Luiz and Bernd Leno, were sent off for receiving a red card.
Luiz received a red card after being tried for raping Willian José. Replay showed Luiz accidental, squandering Willian José’s chance to score a goal in open play.
The violation resulted in a penalty for the Wolves. Ian Wright did not criticize the referee’s decision to mark the point, but he has many doubts about the red card penalty against Luiz.
“I really sympathize (with Luiz) because intentional or not, it seems like a red card that is very inappropriate,” Wright was quoted as saying by Mirror.
“He was actually trying to slow down and the rules say he stopped scoring chances. And he was sent off for it, ridiculous,” he continued.
“The penalty scorer is fine, I have no problem with that because he was blocking the opponent but it was not intentional, so why did he have to be sent off for that? This is the problem and he was penalized for something that was a total accident.” ,” he is stressed.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also criticized the referee’s decision to give David Luiz a red card. He found that there was no VAR camera angle showing violations.
“If they had 50 different angles to see it, I would be surprised. I looked at seven different angles and didn’t see any contact,” Arteta said.
