Suddenly, a busker entered the Emergency Hospital for Management of COVID-19, Wisma Athlete. COVID-19 positive people living in isolation ‘move’ to handle buskers.

This is the bonding story of patients living on the 29th floor of Tower 7 of the emergency hospital in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. COVID-19 positive people don’t hesitate to “reach out” to new members.

“When I was at Wisma Athlete, at that time there were street musicians,” Juno said, recounting her experience to detikcom, on Sunday (9/20/2020).

Juno (36) is a private employee who was isolated at Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital from April 17 to May 18. He is telling his story, when on the 29th floor of Tower 7 came a gentleman named Pak Ujang, about 55 years old. He remembers very well the appearance of Pak Ujang the busker when he saw him for the first time, that is, with his flip flops, shorts, his way of walking a little hunched over.

“So when he went to the Athlete’s House, he only had clothes on his body. When he was transported by an ambulance, they didn’t give him time to prepare first. He also had no money,” Juno said.

The patients on the 29th floor numbered almost 50 at the time. They quickly learned who the new inhabitants had arrived without preparation. Patient reactions to Pak Ujang reflect spontaneous mutual cooperation.

“We finally felt sorry to see him. We finally worked together to help this father. I bought him a box of underwear myself,” Juno said.

Wisma Atlet patients can purchase products from abroad through online motorcycle taxis. Later, the ordered items will arrive in the lobby through a maintained COVID-19 prevention protocol. The patients occupying the 29th floor help Pak Ujang in various ways.

“Some people buy detergent, some people buy clothes, pants. There are all kinds of them. So we all, shoulder to shoulder, we help each other, we help each other,” Juno said.
