JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The sound of mysterious thumps was heard again twice in various areas of Jakarta, on Monday (9/21/2020) morning. The sound of the blow occurred around 05:33 WIB.
The origin of the boom sound is not yet known. The sound of banging was also heard last Sunday night.

“It sounded like falling objects. Not like the sound of lightning. I see. The sound was very short, not even 5 seconds, “he said.
Annisa (25), a resident of Manggarai, South Jakarta, also heard the sound of an unknown knock on Monday morning.
“I heard a knock at 05.30 WIB. I still want to clean the house. I heard it twice,” he said.
According to Annisa, the voice called the attention of the people around her house to get out of the house.
BMKG suspected that the explosion was related to the lightning phenomenon.
Last night, the pounding sound was also heard twice around 7.45pm WIB.
The Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) suspects that the mysterious accident that occurred on Sunday night was related to the lightning phenomenon on Mount Salak, West Java.
The president of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Mitigation Agency Daryono said his monitoring results did not register any seismic activity when residents reported the incident last night.
“When residents reported the sound of banging tonight, BMKG did not record any seismic activity in and around Jakarta,” Daryono said in his statement Sunday night.
However, the results of lightning monitoring carried out by BMKG found activity in the Mount Salak area around 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm WIB when several residents claimed to have heard an accident.

BMKG suspects that the two pulses heard that caused the vibrations are the effect of the lightning activity.
“The sound of the blows tonight did not originate from an earthquake, but there is a suspicion that the sound came from lightning,” he said.
Daryono said his party did not want to speculate further about the source of the boom sound that was heard in the capital, particularly in the southern and eastern areas of Jakarta last Sunday.
According to him, BMKG only refers to the monitoring data of a number of detection devices used and records the presence of lightning activity when the event occurs.
