KOMPAS.com – The Four Brothers motorboat (KM) accident on the Ende Island-Kampung Numba Basa route, Ende Regency, NTT, on Saturday (3/4/2021) left a sad story.
A one-year-old baby died in the sinking incident.
The mother had tried to save by swimming, but fate said otherwise.

Reporting from Post-KupangEnde Island sub-district chief Nurdin said all the passengers had escaped, including a mother, A (35), who brought her son, Az (1).

“But hey, the child’s life was not saved. His mother was safe,” Nurdin said, quoted by Post-Kupang, Saturday (3/4/2021).
After being evacuated, the boy was taken to the Pulau Ende Community Health Center, but his life was not saved.

In the incident, the baby’s father was also on a boat.
The father saved his other son.
“As you can see, the husband helps a child, his son too, is already in kindergarten, if the mother, well with her son who is still a small child, who died,” explained Nurdin.

However, in just 15 minutes of sailing or around 12.30 WIT, the ship was hit by the waves until it sank.
The ship sank 2.29 kilometers from the port of Pulau Ende.

Successfully evacuated
Maumere’s search and rescue office, I Putu Sudayana, said the incident occurred around 12:30 WITA.
At 12:40 WIT, a joint SAR team made up of a team rescue Ende SAR reserve unit, Ende AL Post one person, Polairud Ende one, using a 30 PK rubber boat Ende SAR alert unit and Ende Island Police and evacuated fishermen using 20 boats.
Then, at 1:10 p.m. WIT, the team managed to evacuate 24 victims of the sinking of the ship.
“All the victims were then taken to the Ende puskesmas with details of 23 survivors and 1 baby died,” Putu said in a written statement received. Kompas.com, Saturday night.
