Barcelona –
Gerard Piqué received a direct red card when Barcelona against Ferencvaros. Coach Ronald Koeman said the sentence was too much.
The Barcelona vs Ferencvaros match of matchday 1 of Group G of the Champions League took place at the Camp Nou, on Wednesday (10/21/2020) at the morning WIB. Barcelona led 2-0 in the first half thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati. Philippe Coutinho then added Barcelona’s lead early in the second half.
Ferencvaros had time to reduce the distance by taking Ihor Kharatin’s penalty in the 68th minute. The penalty came from Gerard Piqué’s foul on Tokmac Nguen, which also resulted in a red card for the Barcelona defender.

Despite completing the remaining matches with 10 people, Barcelona was still able to score goals. Pedri and Ousmane Dembélé scored in the last 10 minutes of the game to seal the Blaugrana victory.
Despite getting all three points, Koeman still complained about the referee’s decision to sanction Piqué. In that incident, Piqué pulled Nguen’s arm into the penalty area to open a shot.
“A red card is a punishment that is too severe. Because, a penalty has already been given and the additional red card is too harsh,” Koeman was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Other than that, we also have to appreciate the way the team played by losing one person,” he continued.
Piqué means that he will be absent when Barcelona travels to the Juventus headquarters in the middle of next week. Ronald Araujo is likely to fill the role left by Piqué.
