JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The general secretary of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto, assessed that the candidate for Governor of West Sumatra, Mulyadi, did not have a strong leadership position because he returned the nomination recommendation of his party.
Mulyadi returned the recommendation for PDI-P’s Pilkada 2020 nomination due to the words of PDI-P DPP President Puan Maharani, who were seen as cornering the people of West Sumatra.
“From the beginning, I suspected that Mulyadi was not strong in his leadership position, so he could easily waver on the dialectic of ideology,” Hasto said in a written statement on Sunday (6/9/2020).

Hasto assessed that what Puan transmitted was a hope that West Sumatra would be much better.
Through his statement, Hasto said that Puan hopes West Sumatra will produce such figures as Bung Hatta, KH Agus Salim, Professor Mohammad Yamin, Rohana Kudus, HR Rasuna Said, M. Natsir, Tan Malaka and others who have fought for Indonesia.
Hasto said, PDI-P wants the people of West Sumatra to emulate these figures as national warriors and good figures of learning.
He added that Mulyadi’s attitude was well understood because power politics for those who were not strong in principle was only a means of popularity.
“In the meantime, for the PDI-P to become a leader, it must be strong and as strong as a rock facing the waves, especially when it comes to Pancasila,” Hasto continued.
“What Mbak Puan transmitted is part of the ideological dialectic and it is transmitted well, with the Bismillah pronunciation. So let’s look objectively and proportionally, and it stays away from the dynamics of the Pilgub ”, he continued.

Previously, as quoted from Kompas TV, the couple of candidates for governor and deputy governor of Sumatra, Batat Mulyadi and Ali Mukhni, decided to return the PDI-P decree (SK) that previously carried them.
The return of the decree was carried out by both following a statement by the president of the PDI-P DPP Puan Maharani on West Sumatra, some time ago.
Ali Mukhni said that before returning the PDI-P SK, he first contacted Mulyadi.
“We have agreed with Pak Mulyadi, we will return the PDIP support decree,” Ali Mukhni said on Saturday (5/9/2020).
As is known, Puan Maharani spoke words that provoked negative reactions from the people of West Sumatra.
Because, he said, it is hoped that West Sumatra will become a province that does support Pancasila.

Meanwhile, Megawati Soekarnoputri, President of the PDI-P DPP, admitted that she was surprised that the people of West Sumatra had not yet fully accepted the PDI-P.
He conveyed this by briefing the Pilkada 2020 candidate pairs on Wednesday (2/9/2020).
“If I look at West Sumatra, I think why people in West Sumatra don’t seem to like the PDI-P, even though there are regions that want a DPC or DPD,” Mega said.
According to him, this made it difficult for the PDI-P to determine candidates for regional chief in West Sumatra. In fact, Mega said, many national heroes were born in West Sumatra.
“Finding a leader in the area, in my opinion, will be a bit difficult,” he said.
“However, if we look back at the nation’s history, many West Sumatra people became nationalists who at that time collaborated with Bung Karno (Soekarno), Bung Hatta (Moh Hatta). Bung Hatta actually came from West Sumatra.” Mega said.
He also said that this condition is a task for all PDI-P cadres.
Mega said that cadres must work hard so that people entrust their aspirations to the PDI-P.
“Things like this are actually our duty to study why there are regions that they can’t or won’t, which means that people can trust the political party’s fighting tool called PDI-P,” he said.
