Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Indonesian Parliament Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin asked the government in particular Indonesian Navy (AL) and the Maritime Safety Agency (Bakamla) reinforce lower security Indonesian Sea.

He said this after a reconnaissance drone supposedly belonging to China that was tubular and had many long-range sensors and transmitters was found deep in the Straits of Malacca.

“Of course this is a special and very dangerous concern for the security of the Republic of Indonesia, things like this must be taken seriously by modernizing the counter-surveillance equipment,” Azis said, citing Between, Friday (1/1).

Azis said Indonesia’s underwater safety is a serious challenge that must be overcome by the government so that the modernization of underwater detection equipment needs to be strengthened.

“No drone or submarine can enter NKRI territory without permission from the state,” he said.

He said that Indonesia’s territorial sovereignty was a top priority for safeguarding, so it was very unfortunate that the surveillance drone could escape and enter Indonesian waters undetected and that would be illegal.

Azis also asked the Foreign Ministry to firmly submit diplomatic notes by sending a protest letter to China.

“The Foreign Ministry can also coordinate and communicate with the TNI Commander to take steps to address this problem,” he said.

The Golkar Party politician evaluated that the TNI commander could mobilize his entire unit to carry out an early detection on the territory of the Republic of Indonesia after the escape of a surveillance drone suspected of being a foreigner. According to him, do not allow the drone to have sent data from various finds in Indonesian waters.

Earlier, an Indonesian fisherman found a missile-like object with a camera on Selayar Island in South Sulawesi yesterday on Christmas Eve.

Australian Institute of Strategic Policy security and defense expert Malcolm Davis suspects that the object is an underwater drone sent by China to understand oceanography and the nature of the region’s underwater bathymetry.

According to ABC News, Davis said the incident was worth watching because the drone was found on a major sea lane linking the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean near mainland Australia.

Davis said this was a sign that the Chinese Navy was preparing to deploy submarines closer to the northern coast of Australia.
