LIVE – The name Benny Wenda is being discussed again after his last recognition as President of Papua = “” tag = “” www.viva.co.id = “”> Papua-barat “> West Papua. This was transmitted by Benny Wenda via his Twitter account to coincide with his birthday, the Organization of Free Papua (OPM) year which fell on December 1.

However, it appears that Benny Wenda’s claim has also received pushback from various West Papuan figures. Certainly this is very natural considering that currently the OPM itself has divided into several camps or groups. Countless parties or groups have claimed each other.

So on this occasion, the editorial team compiled from various sources a list of 4 people mentioned and claimed as number one in West Papua:

1. Benny Wenda
Benny Wenda is currently the President of the United Liberation Movement of West Papua (ULMWP). For a long time living in a land of people, Benny Wenda is currently recorded as living in Oxford, England, with the status of a West Papua independence activist.

Regarding his latest claim to be the president of West Papua, it turns out that the rejection has also come internally in the Free Papua Movement (OPM). One of them was the President of the Male and Female Presedium of Pepera Fighters (P5) Yanto Eluay, who emphasized that Benny Wenda was not recognized and that his action was only an act of stage search.

2. Victor Yeimo
Victor Yeimo is listed as the leader of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB), a political organization that has a vision to liberate West Papua. The man who was born in 1983 is accused of being the mastermind behind several riots that broke out in West Papua.

Since 2009, Yeimo has also been a target of the police in connection with various demonstrations and riots in Papua. After being arrested, Yeimo was declared a fugitive after escaping from prison in October 2010. The latest news from his personal blog is that Yeimo has yet to move to avoid attacks by the Indonesian police and army.

3. Jeffrey Bomanak
Another name that appears on the exchange is Jeffrey Bomanak. His status is currently the highest person in the Papua Liberation Organization-West Papua Liberation Army (OPM-TPNPB). It controls OPM-TPNPB from its headquarters in Victoria City, Australia.

It is this figure that seems most emphatic in rejecting Benny Wenda’s statement. Even on several occasions, Jeffey Bomanak emphasized that the ULMWP led by Benny Wenda had misled the Papuan people.

4. Forkorus Yaboisembut
Forkorus Yaboisembut was born in 1955 and serves as Chairman of the Papua Customary Council. He was detained by the security forces in 2011 following the holding of the Third Papua People’s Congress and the declaration of the establishment of the Federal Republic of West Papua (NRPB). The charge is clearly treason. In congress, Forkorus Yaboisembut was appointed President of West Papua.

Forkorus Yaboisembut was released in July 2014 along with four other prisoners, namely Edison Waromi, Agust Kraar, Selpus Bobi and Dominikus Surabut. Although he has been released, Forkorus Yaboisembut will continue to fight for the political rights of the Papuan people.
