Turkish citizens are considered not to buy French products due to the boycott, but they cannot afford it.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ANKARA – The leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to implement his call to boycott French products. Kılıçdaroğlu believes that Erdogan has not tested it so far.
He asked Erdogan to close the French Renault factory in Turkey. “Yes you can,” he said.
According to Kılıçdaroğlu, the Turks cannot carry out Erdogan’s call to boycott French products. According to him, people don’t buy French products. However, this was not done for the purpose of boycotting, but rather due to the inability to keep up with the diminishing purchasing power.
On Monday, Erdogan called on Turkish citizens to boycott French products. This was in response to the anti-Islamic sentiment displayed by French President Emmanuel Macron.
“As has been said in France, ‘don’t buy things labeled Turkish’, I call my people here. Never give credit for products labeled as French, don’t buy them, “Erdogan said in his speech.
Earlier, Erdogan said that Macron needed a mental exam. That statement prompted France to withdraw its ambassador from Turkey.
French public opinion was divided in response to the incident. However, Emmanuel Macron clearly denounced Patty’s murder. According to him, the incident was an Islamic terrorist attack. Macron also commented on anti-Islamic sentiment. He said that Islam is a religion that is in crisis throughout the world.
