Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Indonesian National Police Chief or National Police Chief General Idham Azis ordered the Kapolda to prepare anti-anarchy Brimob troops in areas where the Islamic Defenders Front or FPI is located. The order was described in the Telegram Letter from the Chief of Police to the Regional Police Chiefs under number STR / 873 / XII / PAM.3.3. / 2020 dated December 7, 2020.

“Yes, that’s right, the TR of the Chief of Police was signed by the Deputy Chief of Police as a form of direction from the Headquarters of the National Police to the ranks to increase alertness and readiness to respond to current developments” said the Chief of the Public Information Office, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, on Tuesday (12/8/2020).

In the telegram, the Chief of the National Police, Idham Azis, gave 11 orders to the Kapolda. One of them is to increase preparedness and prepare Brimob’s anti-anarchy troops in whose territory there are pockets of FPI sympathizers.

Idham also ordered all members of the guard to wear helmets, bulletproof vests, and be armed. Idham ordered increased security around the command headquarters, police posts and the National Police hospital. Its members are also ordered to carry out an inspection of every person who enters the police station, both their vehicle and their belongings with a metal detector.

The four-star police general warned police officers to increase security and personal safety while on duty. “Monitor the development of Sitkamtibmas that occur in the region,” he said.

Idham issued the telegram letter shortly after the clash between the police and members of the FPI on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road on Monday, December 7, 2020. In that incident, 6 members of the FPI Laskar were shot dead. Police said Rizieq Shihab’s bodyguards carried samurai, sickles and firearms. The FPI denies this accusation and says its members were attacked by unknown persons while guarding Rizieq’s activities.
