KONTAN.CO.ID -JAKARTA. The government finally officially cut the number of collective vacations in the end of 2020 holidays. The long end of year vacations were reduced by three days.

Menko PMK Muhadjir Effendy, who was accompanied by several ministers, explained: technically there is a reduction of holidays and group vacations of 3 days.

This decision was made after a coordination meeting with the ministers. Namely, Interior Minister Tito Karnivan, MenPANRB Tjahjo Kumolo, Menaker Ida Fauziyah, Religion Minister Fachrul Razi, National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, BNPB Chief Doni Monardo and KSP Chief Moeldoko.

“Technically, the decision to have long vacations and joint leave is shortened to 3 days, 28, 29 and 30. After this decision, MenPANRB, Menaker and the Minister of Religion will sign an agreement,” said PMK Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy at a press conference held on Tuesday (1/12).

The presence of the ministers for the discussion of the joint leave, namely, PANRB for the ASN holidays, the Menaker for the holidays of private employees, the Minister of Religion related to religious holidays.

“Today, God willing, it will be signed and it will be enforced from the signing,” he said.

Muhadjir explained, the Christmas and New Years holidays are still on December 25th and January 1st. Then there is a substitute for the one-day Eid holiday.

That said, the last holidays are as follows: December 24-27 is the Christmas holidays.

“So the year-end holidays that start on the 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 24th and 25th are Christmas holidays, 26 automatically on Saturdays and 27 on Sundays,” Muhadjir said.

Then, on December 28, 29 and 30, it was decided that there would be no holidays. As for December 31, it is a holiday to replace Eid holiday and January 1, which is in fact a holiday.

“Since January 1 and 2 are Saturday, January 3 is also Sunday, so it automatically becomes a holiday,” Muhadjir explained.

This decision inevitably changed the vacations and collective leaves that would originally take place from December 24, 2019 to January 3, 2021.

The length of the year-end holiday this year occurs because, in addition to the Christmas and New Year holidays, there is a free time with Eid this year, which is carried over to the end of the year due to the corona pandemic. , from December 28 to 31, 2020.

Muhadjir explained that the government has reduced the number of holidays this year to prevent the spread of the corona virus. This step is also in line with President Jokowi’s directive, who called for a cut at the end of the year to contain the transmission of the crown, which is currently still in an uptrend.

Therefore, in the previous limited meeting, President Jokowi asked his ministers to reduce the number of vacations.

“On the issue of holidays, the joint year-end leave that includes holidays instead of the leave with Eid al-Fitr, the president gave instructions for a reduction,” Muhadjir said while giving a press conference after the meeting at the Merdeka Palace, on Monday (23/11).
