The government has followed MA’s verdict

The Coordinating Minister for Policy and Security, Mahfud Md, said he had never issued a statement that the government promised not to increase BPJS ‘health rates. According to him, the government has followed the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) by changing the structure of the new rate increases.

“What I am saying is that the government follows the decision of the Supreme Court because it is final and binding. The government has followed the verdict of the Supreme Court by changing the decision and the structure of the new rate increase,” he continued.

To take into account, the Supreme Court has canceled the increase in BPJS Health contributions. However, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) decided to raise it again by issuing a new Perpres.

Initially, the increase in BPJS Health contributions was canceled by the Supreme Court in February 2020. Then, BPJS contributions returned to the original rates, namely:

to. Rs 25,500 for class 3
yes. Rp 51,000 for class 2
C. Rp.80,000 for class 1

However, President Jokowi decided to continue increasing the rates. This was regulated in Perpres Number 64 of 2020 regarding the Second Amendment to Perpres Number 82 of 2018 regarding Health Insurance.

The following is the increase in BPJS health rates that will take effect on July 1, 2020:

1. Class I registration, which is Rp. 150,000 per person per month, previously Rp. 160,000.
2. Class II tuition, which is Rp 100,000 per person, previously Rp 110,000.
3. Class 2020 fees of Rp. 25,500, in 2021 and the following year it will be Rp. 35,000. Previously Rp 42,000.

For January, February and March 2020, the contributions for participants in the category of non-salaried workers (PBPU) and non-workers (BP) are:

1. Class I is IDR 160,000
2. Class II is IDR 110,000
3. Class III is IDR 42,000

For April, May and June 2020:

1. Class I is IDR 80,000
2. Class II is IDR 51,000
3. Class III is Rp. 25,500
