JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government has decided not to cancel the appointment with Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW on October 28 and 30.

This was decided at a limited meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (10/19/2020).

“According to the instructions of the president, the leave and holidays related to the Prophet’s birthday will still be carried out, so there are no changes,” Muhadjir said after attending a limited meeting.

Prophet Muhammad SAW’s birthday falls on October 29. Meanwhile, October 31 and 1 are Saturdays and Sundays. With this decision, there will be a long weekend of five days, from October 28 to September 1.

The government also realizes that these long vacations have the potential to drive people to tourist attractions to increase the spread of Covid-19.

However, according to Muhadjir, President Jokowi has asked his staff to anticipate this.

“Because it is still related to our efforts to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak, the president said that these joint vacations and licensing activities should not be a factor in the increase in the number of cases and the increase in the problem. from Covid-19, “he said.

According to Muhadjir, President Jokowi has asked Interior Minister Tito Karnavian to coordinate with the local government.

One of them is to anticipate the crowds at tourist attractions. Tito also called on people in the red zone to refrain from returning to their places of origin.

Regarding the opening of the limited meeting, Jokowi reminded him of the previous long vacations that contributed to the increase in the Covid-19 case.

“Considering that we had the experience yesterday, the long vacations that were possible a month and a half ago, after that there was a pretty high increase,” Jokowi said.

As of Sunday (10/18/2020) yesterday, there were still 4,105 new cases of Covid-19. The addition has caused the number of Covid-19 cases in the country to now reach 361,867, as of the announcement of the first patient on March 2, 2020.

The total number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered has been 285,324 since the start of the pandemic. Meanwhile, the death rate from Covid-19 in Indonesia reached 12,511 people.
