The Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN / Bappoco) has confirmed that the plan to build the country’s capital in East Kalimantan is postponed. PKS appreciates the decision.
“He finally realized it. The new capital city project is not only insignificant, it is also not urgent. The completion shows that the government is aware even though it is too late,” DPP PKS president Mardani told reporters. Ali Sera, on Tuesday (9/8/2020).
Mardani said the capital relocation project had a long history. Registration is primarily a cost that burdens state finances.
“There are many records of infrastructure projects carried out so far. In particular, the financing loads the debt of the State and BUMN and has low occupancy, ”said Mardani.

Mardani suggested that the current government focuses on maintaining the safety and well-being of the community in the midst of a pandemic. It is recommended to divert the budget to move the capital for the management of the Corona virus.
“Especially with the condition of COVID-19. The government’s focus on safeguarding the safety and well-being of the people is much higher and higher priority. The budget is allocated to help manage COVID-19,” he added.

Although the construction was postponed, the Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappoco Suharso Monoarfa said that the support process for the communication and strategic coordination team would still receive a budget allocation in 2021.
