JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The coordinating minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, said that the end-of-year holiday allowance and substitute for Idul Fitri’s leave in December will be discussed soon at ministerial level.

The discussion was a follow-up to the request of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who wanted to reduce the year-end holidays and replace Idul Fitri’s license in December.

Muhadjir said that discussions related to this at the ministerial level will soon be discussed on Thursday (11/26/2020).

At present, Muhadjir said, discussions related to this are still taking place at the first echelon officials between related ministries / institutions.

Muhadjir also said that his party could not predict what decision would be made after the discussion.

“(Now) tier one officials are being discussed between ministries / agencies,” he said.

As previously reported, President Jokowi called for a reduction in the year-end vacation allowance and a substitute for Eid leave in December.

It is intended that people do not flock to go on vacation, causing an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Muhadjir said Jokowi recommended that all means be done to avoid crowds, including reducing holidays and leave.

Meanwhile, the government changed the license with Eid al-Fitr from May 2020 to December 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak that occurred in the country.

“The additional license with Eid Al-Fitr, which was originally from May 26-29, 2020, was revoked and carried over at the end of the year from December 28-31, 2020,” Muhadjir said on Thursday (September 4, 2020 ).

On another occasion, the spokesperson for the Covid-19 Management Working Group, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the long vacations would have an impact on the increase in positive cases of the corona virus or Covid-19 nationwide.

“Reflecting on previous experiences, long vacations have an impact on the increase of positive cases at the national level.
