Prince Azim’s personal fortune is estimated at around £ 3.84 billion, part of which he invested in his London-based film company.

Azim found success as a part-time producer in Hollywood despite the anger directed at his father by actors like George Clooney.

Last year, Sultan Bolkiah was widely criticized after he announced that those guilty of having gay sex in the Islamic country would be killed.

A month after outlining a proposal to launch tough new laws, Sultan Bolkiah scrapped his plans, amid a boycott of the hotels he owns around the world.

Azim left behind his father and mother Hajah Mariam, a former flight attendant who was the second wife of Sultan Bolkiah. Sultan Bolkiah mourned for seven days.

Condolences from neighboring countries have arisen. The Indonesian embassy said Prince Azim “will always be remembered with great affection.”

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said; “Azim is known for his kind and generous spirit, and his dedication to charity, education and youth activities.”
