YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The family that owns the Legian Restaurant in Malioboro denounces the alleged case of arson to the police.

The restaurant, which is south of the DIY DPRD building, was allegedly set on fire by protesters during their protest against the Omnibus Law.

“We, as a team of lawyers for the family of the Legian restaurant owner, have denounced the alleged crime of arson,” Alofi said when meeting with the Yogyakarta Regional Police on Friday (09/10/2020).

Alofi relayed that the alleged arson crime took place on Thursday (8/10/2020), around 3:00 p.m. WIB.

As a result of this incident, your client suffered a loss of around 500 million rupees.

“The incident happened when someone captured CCTV evidence. So in the CCTV footage there was a Molotov launch that hit the Legian Rest,” he explained.

His party has included evidence of CCTV camera footage in reporting.

“We are currently entrusting the DIY Regional Police with the immediate follow-up of this report. So there is no confusion about stories or news, that the restaurant actually became a victim in yesterday’s incident, ”he said.

He hopes they can catch the arsonist soon.

“The family wants this case to be resolved and clear, that the perpetrator can be arrested and prosecuted immediately. Because it has made Yogyakarta unsafe and uncomfortable to do business and tourism,” he said.
