SUKABUMI, KOMPAS.com – Flash flooding in the Cicurug sub-district, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, participated in the submergence of part of the PT Aqua Golden Mississippi factory located in Jalan Siliwangi, Mekarsari Village, on Monday (9/21/2020).

“The submerged Aqua factory in Mekarsari village was due to the fact that the panel walls could not withstand the rapid currents of the flash floods that eventually broke out. As a result, the water entered and submerged several rooms of the company,” said the president of the Regional Forum of Coordination SAR (FKSD) of the district of Sukabumi, Okih. Fajri to Between at Sukabumi on Monday.

According to Fajri, the flooding at the Aqua factory was the result of a flood in the Cibuntu River.

The location of the Aqua factory is in front and not far from the river.

However, so far there has been no information about the flood victims at the factory.

As a result of the disaster, the water treatment production room was flooded, making it unable to operate.

It is estimated that the water level that submerged the factory reached 30 centimeters.

“The current condition is not yet known after the flash flood that flooded part of the Aqua factory. But what is clear is that this incident is a series of flash flood disasters that occurred in the Cicurug district,” Fajri said.

Until now, the number of victims is still in the process of data collection.

“There were two victims when the disaster struck who are still in search and their fate is not yet known,” he said.

Meanwhile, the two victims were bakers who were washed away by the flash flood.

“The joint SAR team is still conducting searches and because it is late, plus the lack of lighting, the SAR operation will continue on Tuesday,” Fajri said.
