Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB), Tjahjo Kumolo, revealed that the government will once again dissolve 29 state institutions.

According to Tjahjo, his party has completed the study and will announce the dissolution of 10 state institutions in the near future. Meanwhile, another 19 state institutions will be dissolved in 2021 due to regulations to be discussed with the Indonesian Parliament.

Tjahjo said that one of the state institutions to be dissolved was the Suramadu Bridge Authority Agency. He said that there were too many overlapping agencies in these state institutions.

Other state institutions that will also be dissolved are the Hajj Management Agency and the Aging Management Agency. According to him, the main tasks and functions of the two institutions can be handled by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

For information, prior to the planned dissolution of 29 state institutions, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has dissolved 18 state institutions consisting of task forces, agencies, committees and task forces in July 2020.

The dissolution of these institutions is established in Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2020 on the Committee for the Management of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) and the National Economic Recovery.

Article 19 of the Presidential Decree establishes that the constitution of the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery, 18 institutions will be dissolved. This committee reports to the president and is accountable to him.

Jokowi has also gradually dissolved 23 other state institutions. The dissolution of Jokowi for the first time was carried out against 10 state institutions on December 4, 2014 by Presidential Decree Number 176 of 2014.

Jokowi also dissolved two state institutions on January 21, 2015 through Presidential Decree No. 16 of 2015. Then, in 2016, Jokowi dissolved state institutions twice.

There are nine non-structural state institutions that were dissolved by Presidential Decree Number 116 of 2016. In the same year, Jokowi also dissolved the AIDS Prevention Commission through Presidential Decree Number 124 of 2016.

Then, in 2017, it dissolved the Sidoarjo Barros Management Agency by Presidential Decree Number 21 of 2017. Most of the tasks and functions of the dissolved state institutions were transferred to the relevant ministries.
