SUMEDANG – One of the survivors of the deadly bus in Tanjakan Cae, Sumedang, West Java, revealed the seconds before the bus he was riding in experienced accident fell into the abyss.

The victim, named Hafid Alfariz, said that before the bus fell into a ravine, the brakes failed.

Hafid, who was sitting in the last row of seats, admitted that he was shocked when he discovered that the brakes on the bus he was traveling in had failed.

“I was surprised, the brakes failed,” Hafid said while receiving medical treatment at the Wado Community Health Center.

According to him, before the accident happened, the bus was returning to Subang after the bus group went on a study trip from Pangandaran.

Apart from the study tour, Hafid also confirmed that the group also made a pilgrimage to Cibiuk and Massage, Tasikmalaya.

“After the Pangandaran study tour. Yes, the pilgrimage also from Cibiuk and Pamijahan,” he said.

Hafid also admitted that he had injuries to his hands, feet and head.

A bus carrying a group of pilgrims is known to have fallen into a ravine in the Tanjakan Cae area, Cilangkap Hamlet, Sukajadi Village, Wado District, Sumedang Regency, on Wednesday night (10/3/2021).

In the video, which was widely shared on social media, the bus with police number T 7591 TB appears to have fallen into a ravine with the tires facing upwards.

The evacuation process has also been carried out. Some of them have been evacuated to the local Puskesmas. Several victims died and were injured. Ambulances came and went at high speed towards the place.

The bus transported dozens of pilgrims and toured Al Muawanah High School, Cisalak Subang. This is known from the name tag near the incident.
