Successfully evacuated, the turbine of the Sriwijaya Air aircraft arrives at JICT II

The joint team successfully evacuated the turbine from the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft. The turbine was brought to the JICT II port using the KRI Cucut.

The turbines arrive at JICT II Port, Tanjung Priok, Jakarta on Sunday (10/1/2021) at 10:10 PM WIB. KRI Cucut commander, Navy Major Orri Ronsumbre, said the turbine was found in the vicinity of KRI Rigel.

“This turbine was found in the vicinity of KRI Rigel with a three-dimensional sonar,” Orri said, in a written statement.

Furthermore, the turbine was handed over to Basarnas Operations Director, Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Rasman as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC). SMC then turned everything over to the KNKT for further investigation.

As previously reported, the Sriwijaya SJ-182 aircraft for the Jakarta-Pontianak route was reported to have lost contact on Saturday (09/01/2021) afternoon at around 2:40 PM WIB.

The plane departing from Soekarno-Hatta airport was carrying 62 passengers, consisting of 6 active crew members, 40 adults, 7 children, 3 infants and 6 crew members as passengers.
