jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The National Police has prepared an anticipation if the government’s decision to ban the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) and all its activities will be answered with the formation of a new organization that is only the successor to the banned mass organization.
According to the director of Baharkam Polri, Komjen Agus Andrianto, all officials related to security issues have a responsibility to take preventive measures.
“As a state apparatus, of course, we must take immediate action, including anticipating the evolution of the dynamics of the situation on the ground,” Agus said in his statement to the media on Thursday (12/31).
The policeman, full of experience in the field of investigation, emphasized that the law does guarantee that anyone can meet and express their opinion. However, he said, there are rules that must be obeyed.
“As long as they do not violate the law, as long as they do not disturb public order, as long as they do not interfere with security, yes, go ahead,” he said.
The 1989 alumnus of the Police Academy (Akpol) emphasized that the National Police would certainly not take action against parties that did not violate the rules. However, Agus had data on criminal acts involving members of the FPI.
The former North Sumatra police chief gave details that there are currently 94 reports of the FPI in the police. In addition, there were 199 suspects of crimes related to members of the FPI.
Other data also shows that 35 members of the FPI were involved in criminal acts of terrorism. Furthermore, there are digital traces showing FPI Grand Imam M Rizieq Shihab giving a speech and saying that his organization still has firearms, including explosives.
