Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 in the fifth week of the 2020/2021 Premier League. The winning goal for the Citizens was scored by Raheem Sterling.
Playing at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, on Saturday (10/17/2020), City won 1-0 from the first half. Sterling scored a goal, taking advantage of the ball from Phil Foden’s kick on the 23rd metnie.
In the second half, Arsenal had a hard time responding. As for City, they had several opportunities, but they also failed to add to their goals. Until the match was dissolved, the score remained 1-0.
These results mean that City now accumulate 7 points in 4 games and climb to 10th place in the Premier League standings. Arsenal are stuck in 5th place with 9 points.

Riyad Mahrez immediately issued threats against Arsenal. His kick with his left foot still steers the ball slightly out of the goal guarded by Bernd Leno.
Arsenal itself is quite difficult to pressure. Until finally, London Cannon’s goal collapsed in the 23rd minute.
Starting off a quick attack, Phil Foden was able to continue Sergio Agüero’s ball with a kick, but Leno was still able to block it. Sterling hit the ball and made it a goal.
Two minutes after the concession, Arsenal had the opportunity to respond through Bukayo Saka. However, Ederson still denied the 19-year-old’s efforts. A minute later it was Nicolás Pepe’s turn, who was still out of place.
City itself has several more opportunities to break into Arsenal’s goal. Several times Mahrez and Foden have jeopardized Leno’s goal, but have yet to score a goal.
In the 40th minute, Arsenal have a good chance of leveling the score through Bukayo Saka. However, the English player again failed to beat Ederson, even though he was fit to face. The 1-0 remained until the break.
In the second half, Arsenal started immediately. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang unleashed a cross that Nicolas Pepe was able to finish off. However, Ederson can still hold the ball down.
City threatens again in the 55th minute. Mahrez is once again a threat to Arsenal’s goal, where Leno can now suppress his shot from close range.
Arsenal themselves had a hard time putting pressure on City afterwards. City’s attack could easily be suppressed from midfield.
Every now and then Mikel Arteta’s troops have a chance through set pieces. In the 82nd minute, Pepe’s free kick went off the City goal.
Arsenal tried to enter Thomas Partey, who made his debut, in the 83rd minute. That doesn’t mean much, though. City still won the match 1-0 over Arsenal.
