Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Finance Minister SriMulyani rejected the proposal tax 0 percent of automobiles for industry and society this year. The reason is the tax incentive for industry they want it to be given broadly and uniformly so that it is not just in one sector.
Previously, the proposal for a zero percent car tax came from the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang. Industry players agreed with this idea because it was deemed appropriate to boost car sales amid the corona virus or covid-19 pandemic.
“We are currently not considering giving a zero percent new car tax as broadcast by the industry and the Ministry of Industry,” Ani said during a virtual press conference of the September 2020 edition of the KiTa State Budget, the Monday (10/19).
According to Ani, tax incentives for industry in the midst of a pandemic should be distributed evenly, where one policy can help many industrial sectors at once. Furthermore, he claims that the government has provided various incentives that are also suitable for the automobile industry.
“We will continue trying to provide support to the entire industrial sector through the incentives we have provided,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Treasury has noted that the incentive in the form of a zero percent car tax could have a negative impact on the economy of other sectors.
“Each incentive that is given to us will be evaluated in its entirety so that we do not give incentives on the one hand that have a negative impact on other economic activities,” he said.
The proposal for a zero percent car tax came from the Minister of Industry, Agus. In fact, it wants this relaxation to take place as soon as possible before the end of this year so that it can boost demand for cars for potential buyers amid the pandemic.
“If we pay attention to people’s purchasing power, fiscal relaxation can help us, then we will apply it,” Agus said.
This speech has been supported by industry circles such as the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) President Yohannes Nangoi. This is because it is considered to have a positive impact on the industry.
“With this, we expect car sales to increase and the economy to start again,” Nangoi said.
