Splashy of Vandalism at Tangerang Mushala, Walls Off, Al Quran Ripped

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Residents of Villa Tangerang Elok Housing, Kelurahan Kuta Jaya, Pasar Kemis District, Tangerang Regency, were shocked by the vandalism carried out by an unknown person in Mushala Darussalam on Tuesday afternoon (9/29/2020).

The vandalism at Mushala Darussalam in the form of walls and floors was scrawled with spray paint until the Al Quran was ripped off.

Scribbled video of Mushala Darussalam’s condition emerging was widespread and viral on social media.

In a video clip seen by Kompas.com, he begins with a video showing the state of the mosque with graffiti on the walls and floor.

The voice of a person behind the video says if the incident was first discovered around the time of the Asr prayer.

“At first, Wawan, Wawan came in here already scribbled. This is the reason, I don’t know the reason, so I want Asr (prayer), and Wawan doesn’t want to call for prayer because of this condition,” said a voice behind the video.

The video also shows a green mosque wall scrawled with writing. There were also scribbles on the blackboard and on the floor and on the prayer mats.

In another section there are two Al Quran. One Qur’an looked shattered and the other crossed out with a cross.

“It starts at what time, 12 o’clock has not been like that,” said the voice behind the video.

A person suspected of being the author was arrested

Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Pol Ade Ari Syam Indardi confirmed the vandalism at the Darussalam mosque. He said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. WIB on Tuesday.

Based on the results of the TKP prosecution and the cross-examination of several witnesses, he said, one perpetrator has now been secured.

“The perpetrator has been arrested, the attack is underway further investigation,” Ade said, confirmed by Kompas.com.

Meanwhile, the current condition of Musala Darussalam, Ade said, has been cleaned and used for prayer as before.
