Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Democratic Party politician Ferdinand Hutahaean has declared his resignation from the party that bears the Mercy star. The news was transmitted by Ferdinand through his Twitter account @ FerdinandHaean3, on Sunday (11/10/2020).

“So, even now, I will leave the Democratic Party, it is also for political principles and beliefs, the national political path that I believe regardless of whether I am wrong or the principles I believe in. I decided to leave and I will resign!” he wrote.

As CNN Indonesia reports, Ferdinand will officially present his resignation letter to the DPP Democratic Party, on Monday (12/10/2020) tomorrow.

He then revealed the reasons for resigning from the Democratic Party. All due to differences in political attitudes with parties, including the Omnibus Law on the Employment Creation Law that was passed earlier this week.

“This is the culmination of various differences in politics and principles between the leadership and attitudes of the party and myself. There have been various things between the new committee and myself that have different views on political issues,” Ferdinand said.

“And finally yesterday on the Ciptaker bill there were very basic differences of principle so I decided to leave as a gesture of respect to this party for its attitude and to free myself from being in the future,” he continued.

Confirmed regarding Ferdinand’s resignation, the head of the Democratic Party’s Strategic Communications Agency, Ossy Dermawan, gave a reply.

“Of course we give room for freedom and invite those interested to resign,” Ossy told reporters on Sunday (11/10/2020), as quoted by detik.com.

“Ferdinand Hutahaean will send his resignation letter tomorrow. However, he has already given an open statement to resign from the Democratic Party in the public sphere,” he said.

Personally, Ossy expressed his gratitude for Ferdinand’s dedication thus far. He also wished Ferdinand success in his new service outside the Democratic Party for the good of the country and the nation.

The Democratic Party previously stated that it rejected ratification of the Job Creation Bill. Even in a plenary session in the DPR on Monday (10/5/2020), the Democratic Faction decided to withdraw.

General President Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) apologized to the workers for the failure of his party to stop the ratification of the new regulation. AHY said that his party did not have enough votes to address the product of the legislation, as workers expected.

He stressed that Democrats must form a coalition with workers who are currently the hardest hit by the pandemic and the economic crisis to respond to the job creation bill.

“God willing, we will continue to fight for the hopes of the people,” he said in a written statement received by CNNIndonesia.com on Monday (May 10, 2020).
