Liverpool lost their second Premier League defeat this season when they traveled to the Southampton venue. The Reds surrendered 0-1.

Liverpool hit the Southampton defense to score the tie. The home defense match could not be penetrated by Mohamed Salah et al until entering the 30th minute.

Sadio Mane threatens in the 33rd minute with a shot from outside the penalty area. The ball is still hovering over the crossbar.

Southampton nearly doubled the lead in the 40th minute. Nathan Tella escaped the Liverpool defense by firing the ball near the penalty area that slid past the goal.

No additional goals were scored until halftime. Southampton closed the first half with a 1-0 lead over Liverpool.

Liverpool put pressure on the Southampton defense since the second half began. Xherdan Shaqiri was added to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to strengthen the Reds’ breaking force.

Handball! Liverpool had the opportunity to take a penalty in the 51st minute. Georginio Wijnaldum’s kick ball appears to hit Jack Stephens’ hand in the prohibited area.

WHERE! The referee ruled that there was no handball foul after considering the video assistant referee (VAR) replay. Liverpool did not receive a penalty either.

Liverpool continued to pound Southampton’s rear. Mane shoots the ball from close range in the 74th minute anticipated by goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Liverpool attack with everything in the remaining time. However, until the match ended, no goals were scored. The match closed with a 1-0 victory for Southampton.
