Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) sent the Minister of State to Secretary of State Pratikno to escort and explain the text of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation to the Executive Board. Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
At the meeting that took place on Sunday, October 18, 2020, Jokowi wanted Pratikno to spread the word about the Job Creation Law and accept a number of stakeholders.
“NU and MU are also part of the actors who certainly have concerns about this Employment Creation Law,” said Deputy for Protocol, Press, Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, in his statement, quoted on Monday (19 / 10/2020).
“The Minister of State went directly to the Head of the UN at his home, then went to the residence of the Vice President of the MUI who was also at his residence,” he explained.
Bey said that the Job Creation Act documents submitted to the NU and MUI were the final texts that Jokowi received on October 14. The manuscript was obtained from the House of Representatives (DPR).
Bey stressed that the government will soon formulate spinoff regulations related to the Act. However, the government will not ignore the aspirations of a number of relevant stakeholders, including the community.
This statement also ensures that Jokowi will not issue a Government Regulation in place of a Law (UU) or Perppu to replace the Employment Creation Law that triggers mass demonstrations.
“Because the government is effectively drafting the PP and Perpres immediately as implementing regulations for the Employment Creation Law. So the input is for the preparation of the PP and Perpres,” he said.
“The Minister of State also said previously that the government is really open to receiving input from all parties in the development of derived regulations. In this case, NU, MUI and Muhammadiyah,” he explained.
“As the Secretary of State explained, the ministers have received orders from the president to listen to and absorb the aspirations of academics, mass organizations, unions or citizens,” he explained.
Earlier, MUI Vice President Muhyiddin Junaidi said that during a MUI delegation meeting with Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Friday (10/16/2020), Jokowi also responded to the attitude of the ulama.
It’s just that, Jokowi, Muhyiddin said, he will not issue a Perppu.
“The president’s response is to get the most out of the PP. The president does not want to make a Perppu because the Omnibus Law is an initiative of the Government. JR. [judicial review] or the revision of the law is considered part of the solution to overcome the turmoil, “Muhyiddin said, in an official statement, cited by Detikcom.
