Manchester United’s victory over West Bromwich Albion resulted in the cancellation of penalties for the visitors. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that MU had a bit of luck.

The MU vs West Brom match in the Premier League continued at Old Trafford, on Sunday (11/22/2020) WIB early morning, it was won by the host. MU won 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Bruno Fernandes in the second half.

At the beginning of the second half, when the score remained 0-0, West Brom received a penalty. Referee David Coote signaled the point after Fernandes was judged to knock down Conor Gallagher in the penalty area.

The VAR reviewed the incident and asked the referee to look at the monitor. After seeing the images on the monitor, David Coote changed his mind and canceled the penalty for West Brom.

Referring to a similar incident in the Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion match, Solskjaer felt that West Brom should have received a penalty. So he felt MU was a bit lucky because West Brom’s penalty was canceled.

“I saw a penalty this afternoon at Villa-Brighton, and there was contact with the ball and the players. In my mind it could be a penalty, and there too,” Solskjaer said. BT sport.

“We may have a bit of luck, but none of the sanctions were awarded, so maybe the rules are different from how I interpret them.”

MU itself received a penalty in the 53rd minute after Darnell Furlong was declared handball. Sam Johnstone denied the execution of Fernandes.

However, the VAR reviewed and judged Johnstone to stay out of line before Fernandes entered. Penalties must also be repeated and this time Fernandes successfully converted them into goals.

“Bruno wanted (to repeat a penalty), we did the same with David (de Gea) at the start of the season when he was off the line,” he continued.

“It’s a shame for Sam (Johnstone), he had a great game, but it was tough to beat him today and that’s the only way we can do it,” Solskjaer said.

After beating West Brom, MU moved up to ninth in the Premier League standings with 13 points from eight games.
