KOMPAS.com – Residents of 3 villages in the Jenu sub-district, Tuban Regency, East Java, have reaped abundant fortunes thanks to cash compensation for the construction of Pertamina’s New Gress Root Refinery (NGRR) oil refinery project.
The three villages are Sumurgeneng Village, Wadung Village and Kaliuntu Village, Jenu District, Tuban Regency, East Java.
However, not all residents will be able to enjoy the profit compensation money for the acquisition of land or land affected by the construction of the Pertamina oil refinery.
Sodir, a resident of Wadung Village, Jenu Subdistrict, admitted that from the beginning he received the land and house he currently occupies and had to move elsewhere.

Because from the beginning his family accepted, so the process of paying the compensation he received was earlier and there were no obstacles.
Sodir admitted that he felt he was still suffering losses from the compensation he received.
Sodir’s land that is subject to acquisition is 10 square meters x 200 square meters, and the backyard of his house is 17 square meters x 70 square meters. He received 4 billion rupees for his land.

There weren’t many protests
Sodir became more attached to the government and did not protest much at the beginning of the acquisition of land for the construction of the oil refinery.
The village government at that time told him that he had to move house and that the Pertamina company would buy the land.
“I knew that at that time the land was bought and the house was ordered to be moved, yes, just move the important thing to give money,” Sodir explained.
It is known that, after receiving the compensation payment for the benefits of the land acquisition, each of the three villagers currently enjoys it in various ways.
Some use it to buy four-wheelers, buy land back and build new houses or renovate houses, some just keep in the bank.

The Pertamina NGRR oil refinery construction project in Jenu district has cost between USD 15 billion and USD 16 billion or around IDR 225 billion.
It is known that the Monyak refinery project in Tuban aims to operate in 2024 and has an area of 821 hectares of land consisting of 384 hectares of community land, the rest is KLHK land of 328 hectares and 109 hectares of Perhutani land.
For land needs, it is distributed in 6 fields in Kaliuntu Village, 562 fields in Wadung, 566 fields in Sumurgeneng, Perhutani 1 area, and KLHK 1 area.
