Shiite community welcomes religion minister’s plan to protect minorities

Community Shiites in Indonesia who are members of the Ahlulbait Indonesia (ABI) mass organization welcomed the plan of the Minister of Religion Ruby Cholil Qoumas.

Zahir hopes that the good policies designed by the Minister of Religion can be implemented effectively. He also hopes that this affirmative policy can become a bridge for dialogue between Muslim schools in Indonesia.

Earlier, the newly appointed Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, said that he would protect minorities. This includes Shia and Ahmadiyah followers, who are often intimidated.

However, it does not mean that he protects Shiite and Ahmadiyah groups or organizations, but that his followers are also part of Indonesian citizens.
