JAKARTA – Police arrested several high-ranking officials and members of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE). Some of them have been named suspects by the police.
In response to these arrests, on Wednesday (10/14/2020), the United States Presidium officially issued a statement. Gatot Nurmantyo, Din Syamsuddin and Rochmat Wahab signed the statement.
Quoted from Sindonews.com, the following is Presidium WE statement number 026 / PRES-US / B / X / 2020:
PRESIDIO’S DECLARATION ON THE DETENTION OF OUR WARRIORS
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
In connection with the arrest of our figure on behalf of Dr. Anton Permana, Dr. Syahganda Nainggolan, Jumhur Hidayat, and various individuals from the US Medan network, we hereby declare the following attitude:
1. We regret and protest that the arrest was a repressive act and did not reflect the role of the police as protector, protector and servant of the community. His arrests, especially Dr. Syahganda Nainggolan, seen from the temporal dimension, the basis of the police report of October 12, 2020 and the release of the sprindik on October 13, 2020 and the arrest made several hours later, the same day the 13 October is clearly strange or unusual and violates procedures. In addition, if it is related to article 1 number 14, article 17 and article 21 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Judgment of the Constitutional Court number 21 / PUI-XII / 2014, on the need for at least two evidence, and Article 45 of the ITE Law on the phrase “ may raise ” then the arrest of our figures, it is proper to believe that it contains political ends, through the use of legal instruments.
2. The press release from the Karo Penmas Police Headquarters, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono on the arrest. WE value:
to. Contains nuances of opinion formation (framing).
second. Make generalizations with biased institutional constraints.
C. Premature, that is, disclosing the findings of the ongoing review process.
3. All of the above, including the disclosure of the name and identity of the detained person, shows that the National Police does not uphold the presumption of innocence, to which the Law Enforcement Agency / Polri must attend.
4. We emphasize that there is a strong indication that the mobile phones of some of our figures in the last days were hacked / controlled by certain parties, so it is likely that they are hacked or “ duplicated ” (cloned). Activists critical of state power often experience this, including some of America’s leaders. As a result, the available ‘conversational evidence’ is often artificial and absurd.
5. We categorically reject the exclusion or association of anarchist actions in the demonstrations of workers, students and studies with OUR Organization. We support national strikes and workers’ demonstrations as a way to comply with constitutional rights, but we have not participated institutionally, except to free their supporters to join and help the protesters in a humanitarian way. Instead, the National Police were asked to fully investigate any indication of the involvement of professional actors who had infiltrated the ranks of the protesters and carried out anarchist acts, including arson (as reported by social media ).
6. We ask the National Police to release OUR leaders from being accused of being associated with the application of the ITE Law which contains many ‘rubber articles’ and should be considered contrary to the spirit of democracy and the constitution that grants freedom of expression and opinion to the people of the country.
7. We express our gratitude and are very grateful to the various parties that sympathize with our detained figures, including ProDem, LBH Muslim, academics / observers and netizens and OUR supporters who continue to sound the release of OUR figures. We are grateful that with various challenges and trials, including the arrest of the leaders, WE are gaining the sympathy and support of the people. We are increasingly determined to continue with the Moral Movement for the Defense of Justice and Against Injustice.
Wa Allahu al-Musta’an
