The Manchester City vs Southampton duel resulted in seven goals in 90 minutes. The Citizens emerged as winners with a score of 5-2.
Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez became stars by scoring two goals each at the WIB’s Thursday morning game at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday (11/3/2021).
Meanwhile, City’s remaining goal was made by Ilkay Guendogan. Southampton had drawn through a James Ward-Prowse penalty and a consolation goal from Che Adams in the second half.
Three additional points place City firmly at the top of the Premier League standings with 68 points from 29 games, 14 points ahead of Manchester United in second place. Southampton is 14th with 33 points.

City took the initiative to attack from the first minute but struggled to break through Southampton’s defense. Only in the 15th minute, City could open the advantage.
Starting by crossing Aleksandr Zinchenko, who was greeted by Phil Foden’s kick, the ball was pushed by Alex McCarthy. However, Kevin De Bruyne easily fooled the rebound to burst into Southampton’s goal.

That advantage made City even more eager to score goals, although it was fatal in the 24th minute. Aymeric Laporte is accused of knocking down Janik Vestegaard in a duel in the forbidden area.
