Session of Jiwasraya, Bentjok & Heru demanding compensation of Rp. 16.8 T

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Two defendants in the alleged corruption case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero), namely PT Hanson International Tbk President Director Benny Tjokrosaputro aka Bentjok and PT Trada Alam Minera Tbk (TRAM) President Commissioner Heru Hidayat are being processed until Thursday night (10/15/2020).

One of the points requested was that both should return the money that had allegedly been embezzled.


No kidding, the prosecutor asked the two of them to repay the state losses that had reached trillion rupees, reaching Rp.12,157 billion, each Rp.6,078 billion for Bentjok and Heru.

“Benny Tjokrosaputro and Heru Hidayat have enriched themselves with 12 billion 157 billion. For this reason, the defendants Benny Tjokrosaputro and Heru Hidayat have to compensate the state for 6 billion 78 billion 500 million each,” the prosecutor told the Beginning of the indictment in the Central District Court of Jakarta. However, at the final reading of the charges, the amount of the special compensation for Heru Hidayat changed from Rp. 6.078 trillion to 10 trillion 728 trillion 783 million 375 thousand rupees (Rp. 10.728 trillion).

Thus, the total compensation to be deposited by both reached Rs 16.81 trillion, the same as the amount of possible state losses as calculated by the Higher Audit Agency (BPK).

The two defendants were said to have played a role in managing the stock and mutual fund assets managed by 13 investment managers.

As is known, in addition to Bentjok and Heru who have just been indicted, the four defendants in the Jiwasraya case were subjected to a verdict on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Jakarta Central District Court, Jalan Bungur.

The court ordered the four defendants the maximum penalty, namely life imprisonment.

First, former Jiwasraya chairman Hendrisman Rahim was found guilty of corruption by enriching himself and Benny Tjokro and others worth Rs 16 trillion and sentenced to life in prison.

SecondFormer Jiwasraya CFO Hary Prasetyo was also sentenced to life imprisonment at the verdict hearing held on Monday (12/10/2020).

Third, former head of Jiwasraya Finance and Investment Division, Syahmirwan, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the Jiwasraya corruption scandal.

The sentence against Syahmirwan was harsher than the previous prosecutor’s demands, namely 18 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1 billion.

Room, Joko Hartono Tirto, director of PT Maxima Integra, was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption collectively, as indicated in the primary indictment and sentenced to life imprisonment.

For information, the Attorney General’s Office has designated Hendrisman Cs as a defendant in the Jiwasraya case.

Not only that, in Jiwasraya’s case, the AGO also named an official from the Financial Services Authority and 13 investment management (MI) companies as suspects.

The Bentjok and Heru trial took place on September 24, 2020. However, they were both unable to appear at the trial at that time because they were positively infected with the Corona virus.
