Quoted from Haramain SharifainOn Saturday (10/31/2020) the incident took place on Friday night after 10:30 p.m.

Haramain Sharifain said that from the photo showing the outer courtyard of the Al Haram mosque, it was known that the incident involved a car driving through the courtyard of the Al Haram mosque and entering the King Fahad expansion.

Video was then obtained showing the car crashing uncontrollably through the barrier in the courtyard and finally coming to a stop after hitting Gate 89 of the Al Haram Mosque.

How did this happen?

According to various sources, the car is said to have entered the courtyard via Jalan 15, which is the main road directly entering the King Fahad Expansion courtyard of Masjid Al Haram.

“This path is usually crowded with people and is only used for dropping off and inviting the congregation before and after prayers,” wrote Haramain Sharifain.

At the time of the incident, the barrier at the entrance to the courtyard was minimal and could be easily crossed by uncontrolled vehicles as seen in the video and photos obtained.
