Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga One officially based on Bali starting today. The objective, according to Sandi, is his nickname, he wants to see, hear and feel first-hand the complaints of business actors. tourism and the creative economy in Bali.
He explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has eroded the tourism industry and creative economy on the Island of the Gods. Based on his observations, several coastal areas appear to be empty of tourists. The same goes for the commercial area.
This condition is in contrast before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Bali, he considered, is always full of tourists, both national and foreign throughout the year.
“The corona virus pandemic has really eroded tourism in Bali. 80 percent of the people who depend on the sector of the economy are directly affected. This is what we must fight for,” he said, in an official statement, the Thursday (28/1).
Sandi left Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, for I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, in the morning. Upon arriving in Bali, Sandi headed to the Bali Polytechnic School of Tourism in South Kuta, Badung, Bali.
He said that the decrease in tourist visits had an impact on the decrease in the income of people, especially micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES).
MSME players Sandi met said the drop in tourist arrivals during the pandemic had made their business very difficult.
Therefore, Sandi emphasized that it would provide incentives to MSMEs actors affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Incentives must be given to those affected, so that there is working capital to continue with the business,” he said.
In addition, he hopes that business actors in tourism and the creative economy will have priority for the national vaccination program.
Through covid-19 vaccination and cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability (CHSE) health protocol, it hopes to create a healthy tourism climate in Indonesia.
Thus, it can increase the safety and confidence of tourists returning from vacation to Bali.
“Likewise, vaccination and the CHSE are implemented, which are expected to trigger the arrival of tourists and restore the economy of the people who were lost by the pandemic,” he said.
The plan to have an office in Bali was broadcast by Sandi on Sunday (24/1). The decision to be headquartered in Bali, Sandi said, was made to avoid reports of an ABS or “as long as you’re happy” from ministry staff he leads.
With an office in Bali, Sandi admits that she can feel the stretches and problems directly. Furthermore, it is easy for him to convey what he saw and felt while in Bali to President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, not just reports from his staff.
“I really enjoy when we hear directly without any reports from the Ministry of Tourism staff which is ‘as long as I’m happy’. I have experience in government, sometimes the reports are ‘good sir-good sir’, ‘like this’, but apparently I don’t ask like that, ”Sandi said.
