JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – “Pak Gub, I ask permission to fire because I am not feeling well.” That was the message sent by the late DKI Regional Secretary Saefullah to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
The message was sent by Saefullah on Monday (7/9/2020), during the plenary session in the DKI DPRD building.
According to Anies, this was unusual. The reason is that she knows Saeful as a bureaucrat who never leaves early when she attends meetings due to illness.
“In my experience working with the Regional Secretary, he was never laid off due to illness,” Anies said.

He sent the message to Anies and informed him that he had to leave the plenary session due to illness.
A few days later, Saefullah tested positive for Covid-19. His health condition also continued to deteriorate until he had to be treated at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) in central Jakarta.
Saefullah was pronounced dead on Wednesday (9/16/2020) yesterday afternoon. He died at 12:55 pm WIB at the Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital.
Cause of death
DKI Jakarta Health Service Chief Widyastuti revealed that Saefullah’s cause of death was because irreversible shock sepsis with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and confirmed Covid-19.
“This afternoon, our Regional Secretary, Mr. Saefullah, passed away. Mr. Saefullah died from this. irreversible shock sepsis in ARDS, which is a serious infection of the lung tissue and all systems of the body due to Covid-19 infection, ”Widya said in her statement.
The disturbance caused Saefullah to stop breathing, so the oxygen in the body was not enough.

“Causing irreparable respiratory failure and insufficient oxygen exchange,” he said.
Best son in Jakarta
Anies expressed his pride in working with Saefullah. The Jakarta provincial government also paid its last respects to Saefullah’s body at the city hall in central Jakarta.
The former Minister of Education and Culture said Saefullah was Jakarta’s best son.
“Goodbye, the best son of Jakarta. Welcome back to Rahmatullah. We believe that your place is an honor, your place is noble, your place is the highest,” Anies said.
Not without reason, as Regional Secretary, Saefullah accompanied four governors of Joko Widodo, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Djarot Saeful Hidayat, to Anies Baswedan.
“And God willing, this city will continue to send non-stop rewards to you for all your charities in this city,” Anies continued.
Hard fighter Covid-19
As an official at DKI, Saefullah is also a person working hard to combat the Covid-19 outbreak.

Anies said that during the six months that Jakarta was exposed to Covid-19, Saefullah sacrificed her energy so that DKI could reduce the number of exposed patients.
“For more than 6 months we have struggled with Covid-19 and the Regional Secretary is the one who works day and night with all of us every day to combat this epidemic to protect the safety of the residents of Jakarta,” Anies said.
He admits that he never imagined Saefullah was the one exposed.
“Without us guessing, without ever imagining being exposed and then the Almighty called him home,” he said.
The Covid-19 threat is real
Saefullah’s death was a sadistic form of Covid-19 that claimed human lives.
Saefullah’s departure is also a warning about increasingly worrying Covid-19 conditions in the capital city.

“I hope that all DKI Jakarta residents will take this (Saefullah’s departure) a lesson, the condition is really worrying, in a real sense. I always stressed that our message has never been added, never reduced, I will tell you what it is” Anies said.
Therefore, Anies once again reminded residents of the importance of implementing health protocols.
Anies also appealed to residents to keep their activities at home to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19.
“Covid-19 is real and the risks are great. This (the departure of the DKI Regional Secretary) is a clear example of the worst risk of being exposed to Covid-19. I invite everyone to wear masks in an orderly manner, maintain the away, wash your hands regularly, stay home unless necessary. Don’t travel unless it’s urgent, do your best from home, “he said.
Saefullah’s body was released by Anies, the deputy governor of DKI Jakarta, and all ranks of the provincial government of DKI Jakarta with the final tribute to the body which was placed in a box and in an ambulance.
