jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Fishermen found a strange object, suspected to be an underwater drone, in the waters of Bonerate Island, Selayar Islands, in South Sulawesi.

The foreign objects are now being secured at the Indonesian Naval Base in Makassar.

In response to that, former menpora Roy Suryo asked the government to immediately take a firm response regarding these foreign objects.

The request was relayed by Roy in his tweet on his personal Twitter account @ KMRTRoySuryo2, on Sunday (3/1).

Because, according to him, it is a serious threat.

“This is a serious threat, the Chinese Sea Wing (Haiyi) Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) in Selayar Waters, South Sulawesi must be firmly addressed by the government,” Roy wrote as quoted by JPNN.com, on Sunday (3/1 ).

In his notes, Roy explained that foreign objects had entered Indonesian waters three times during the 2019-2020 period.

These objects also appeared in three different locations, namely on one of the islands near the South China Sea, East Java and Selayar, South Sulawesi.

“In my records, it has been three times, 2019 on an island near the South China Sea, January 2020 in East Java,” concluded the telematics expert.

As is known, a fisherman named Saeruddin found an object suspected of being a surveillance drone near the waters of Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, on December 20, 2020.

Saeruddin, who found it when he was about to fish, immediately handed it over to the security forces, both the Police and the Navy.

The place where Saeruddin found the drone was the busiest waterway in Indonesia.
