Liverpool closed the first half of the game against Fulham in an unpleasant way. The Reds were temporarily down 0-1.
Fulham surprised Liverpool when they dared to attack from the minute. Liverpool’s defense was disturbed when in the fourth minute, Ivan Cavaleiro escaped the offside trap and fired at a tight angle that Alisson Becker could have tipped.
Fulham threatened in the 14th minute, Cavaleiro became an actor again. This time Cavaleiro took advantage of the Liverpool defenders’ negligence by receiving a direct pass from Ademola Lookman, but Alisson quickly blocked his shot.
Liverpool came close to a penalty in the 18th minute as Fabinho looked to miss Cavaleiro. However, the VAR canceled it because Fabinho won the ball, not the foot.
Fulham was rewarded for their persistence in putting pressure on Liverpool when they went ahead in the 25th minute. Starting with a foul against Salah, who was not considered a referee, Fulham made a quick counterattack.
Lookman fed Bobby Decordova-Reid, who only touched the ball once, before sending it to the far post without Alisson being able to block. Behind 0-1, Liverpool tried to get up looking for goals as quickly as possible.
However, Fulham was able to defend well and distracted Liverpool. Liverpool could only escape the pressure in the 35th minute and five minutes later Sadio Mane had a well-made ball that headed in but still floated.
Likewise, Mohamed Salah in minute 44 when he was able to escape the opponent’s control, although his shot went wide. Liverpool fell behind 0-1 at the end of the first half.
