Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Imam Besar Front Pembela Islam (REIT) Rizieq Shihab has announced plans to return to Indonesia after being detained for approximately three years in Saudi Arabia.
It claims that it will arrive in Indonesia to coincide with the commemoration of Heroes’ Day on November 10, 2020 next week.
“God willing, my family and I on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 09:30 Saudi Arabia time, we will fly from Jeddah airport with Saudi Arabia Airlines flight number SV 816,” Rizieq said in a statement broadcast on the Youtube channel Front TV, on Wednesday (4/11).
In reality, this is not the first time that Rizieq has planned to return to Indonesia. This speech has been recorded seven times, but it has never come true.
However, this time, the figure who spearheaded the Islamic Defense Action movements 411 and 212 in 2016, confirmed that his return was just a matter of waiting for the flight schedule. Rizieq confirmed that he had paid for the ticket. The passport was already in hand.
“Alhamdulillah Currently the tickets have already been bought and paid for for me and my family, the passports are also in hand, “said Rizieq.
The members of FPI joyfully welcomed Rizieq’s return. Even several Islamic mass organizations took to the streets in Bandung, West Java, yesterday.
They carried banners with words of welcome to Rizieq and claimed to be ready to greet Rizieq at Soekarno Hatta airport when the time came.
The police anticipated Rizieq’s arrival. The head of the Public Information Office of the National Police (Karopenmas), Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, admitted that his party would further coordinate the status of legal cases that may still catch Rizieq.
However, he did not provide the most recent evidence on the legal status of the things that once caught Rizieq.
“If the status of the HRS case, we are currently coordinating. How will the results be, of course we are waiting for the investigators,” Awi said.
Another police officer, another former Jakarta DKI governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok.
Ahok had been in prison because Rizieq and his followers were charged with blasphemy. However, Ahok welcomed the news of the return of the FPI leader.
“Welcome back to your homeland,” Ahok said.
Ahok and Rizieq’s relationship has never been good. Rizieq is a figure who led a wave of anti-Ahok actions because he was deemed to have committed blasphemy against Islam after quoting verse 51 of Al Maidah in late 2016.
The wave of anti-Ahok actions that began in October 2016 was driven by various Islamic organizations such as the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), the Forum of the Islamic Community (FUI) and the Muslim Brotherhood of Indonesia (Parmusi).
They demanded that Ahok, who was then governor of DKI, be legally tried. When the wave of demonstrations occurred, Jakarta was holding a gubernatorial election that united Ahok with Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Anies Baswedan. Later, the surname was elected as the governor of DKI Jakarta.
In the religious blasphemy case, Ahok was found guilty. The politician PDI-Perjuangan was sentenced to two years in prison for violating article 156a of the Penal Code on blasphemy.
After Ahok was incarcerated, it was Rizieq’s turn to get caught in various cases. Among them are cases of alleged unpleasant talk with Firza Husein, who has now been arrested. And a defamation case.
In the middle of the legal process, Rizieq flew to Saudi Arabia. He did not come home even after Ahok got out of jail.
