“Al Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, hero of the Islamic community of Indonesia. Come on, revolutionize morale !!!” that was the sound of one of the billboards that was still on display.

Similar billboards are still posted in the alleys of the FPI headquarters and at various other points, although not as many as before.

The Petamburan area and Jalan KS Tubun stood out with respect to the removal of several billboards from Rizieq Shihab. Even the removal was done directly by TNI.

The Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command, Major General Dudung Abdurrachman, previously confirmed that he had instructed his troops to remove the advertising posters from Rizieq.

The removal of the Rizieq billboards in Petamburan on Friday afternoon (11/20) heated up the situation. The FPI crowd was said to have prevented TNI-Polri from removing its High Priest billboards.

However, FPI Deputy Secretary General Aziz Yanuar yesterday denied any confrontation between TNI and FPI.

“In my eyes, it was just a misunderstanding between the people and the TNI apparatus. There were (residents) yelling thieves, so they thought they were thieves, they didn’t know the thieves. Eventually, the FPI members parted ways,” Aziz said.

“Journalists are not allowed in,” the man said dryly.

Since the return of the FPI Grand Imam Muhammad Rizieq Shihab to Indonesia on Tuesday (11/10), the Petamburan area has often been in the spotlight. The reason is that Rizieq’s presence often creates crowds amid Large Scale Transitional Social Restrictions (PSBB) as an effort to prevent the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19).

Beginning with welcoming the return of the Great Imam to the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the wedding of Rizieq’s daughter, residents and supporters often flock to the area.

One of the beverage merchants in Petamburan, Fandi, said that since Rizieq’s return, the area has never been deserted.

“Today is quiet, yesterday was busy,” Fandi said while preparing his merchandise.

This Saturday afternoon, there were not many FPI supporters in Petamburan. Gang Petamburan was only encouraged by the residents who were just chatting, even though the afternoon sun was quite hot.
