Bandung, CNN Indonesia –

Head of public relations West Java Police Kombes Erdi A. Chaniago said the case Rizieq Shihab crowd-related case in Megamendung, Bogor, continues despite the fact that the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) has suspect status in Polda Metro Jaya.

“(The investigation) will continue,” Erdi said on Sunday (12/13).

Erdi revealed that the stage of the investigation of the crowd case in Megamendung is the summons of several witnesses scheduled for next week.

Witnesses to be questioned range from Rizieq, the organizing committee, Bogor Regent Ade Yasin, to the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil.

Rizieq is scheduled to be summoned on Monday (12/14) after missing the first call. Meanwhile, the Regent of Bogor will be summoned for information the following day or Tuesday (12/15).

Then, on Wednesday (12/16), it was the West Java Governor’s turn to be questioned a second time about the same case.

“It is currently ongoing (witness questioning). Next week there are still witness subpoenas,” Erdi said.

Meanwhile, the director general of criminal investigation of the West Java regional police, Kombes CH Patoppoi, said that although Rizieq was detained, the investigation process would continue.

Investigators from the West Java police will coordinate with Polda Metro Jaya to examine the figure of the Islamic mass organization.

“Tomorrow, Monday, December 14, 2020, West Java police investigators coordinate with Polda Metro Jaya to plan to examine MRS as a witness to the Megamendung case at Polda Metro Jaya,” said Patoppoi.

The case under investigation began when Rizieq attended an event at the Islamic Agrocultural Nature Internship a few weeks ago.

The masses who attended the event were booming and did not implement the Covid-19 prevention health protocol.

Police said there were potential suspects in alleged health protocol violations. However, so far investigators have not pressed charges against any suspects.

Previously, the police had also requested information from various parties, including the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil. Then the police scheduled an invitation to clear the Bogor Regent, Ade Yassin.

In this case, the police used article 14 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law Number 4 of 1984 on Outbreaks of Contagious Diseases, article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 on Sanitary Quarantine and article 216 of the Penal Code.
