KOMPAS.com- Dedi Mulyadi, a member of the RI DPR, commented on the video case of Najwa Shihab interviewing empty seats.

Meanwhile, the video titled “Najwa’s Eyes Waiting for Terawan” had led the president of the Jokowi Unified Volunteers, Silvia Dewi Soembarto, to report on Najwa to Polda Metro Jaya.

According to Silvia, Najwa’s interview with an empty chair was deemed degrading to President Joko Widodo through the person who helped him.

However, the report was rejected as the domain of the press council.

The Press Council emphasized that there was no violation of the journalistic code of ethics in the video.

Dedi questioned Silvia’s attitude when reporting on Najwa Shihab.

Because, according to him, there was nothing in the video that should be seriously questioned.

“Should anyone who talks to himself be reported? So even a lunatic who talks to himself should be reported?” Dedi asked.

“Don’t waste time and energy reporting the matter to the police,” he said.

Common in the art world

Dedi Mulyadi even made a satire video related to the aftermath of the Menanti Terawan video case.

In the viral video he made, Dedi also had a dialogue with an empty chair.

“I really need you right now. I want your presence right now. There are many things I want to talk about with you. It seems like you don’t care about me here. You leave me here without certainty …” Dedi said in the video clip.

Dedi said such a thing is called a monologue in the art world.

“Imaginary dialogue, speaking in an empty space. The space for freedom of expression that anyone can do because this is part of the order of life, ”said Dedi.

“Where art is a space for us to express all of our hearts, it can make us cry, laugh and make people angry. That is art,” Dedi continued in the video.

Dedi Mulyadi emphasized that this case is a reminder for everyone to respect freedom of expression.

Because what Najwa did was considered part of an art.

“This video reminds everyone that there is a space for freedom of expression that must be respected,” said the former Purwakarta regent.
