JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to Saudi Arabia, Agus Maftuh, said that so far the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab has never complained to the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Riyadh.
He said that since the case that involved him in Saudi Arabia, Rizieq had never visited the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh or the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah.
“How can the Indonesian embassy help? MRS has also never complained to the Indonesian embassy in Riyadh since the beginning of the case,” Agus told Kompas.com, Friday (11/6/2020).

In fact, he said, the distance between Mecca and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh was not too great.
Just 1,000 kilometers from the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh and 100 kilometers from the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah.
“Also, to the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, which is 1,000 km from Mecca, to the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah, which is only 100 km and 45 minutes away, he never reported the problems that he was facing,” Agus said.
Other than that, according to him, the Rizieq case was also not a priority for the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh.
Agus said that the Indonesian Embassy prioritizes cases high profile case (HPC) or cases related to the death penalty and life.
Earlier, the leader of the FPI, Rizieq Shihab, said that no party in the Indonesian government had helped him pressure the government of Saudi Arabia on his return to Indonesia.
According to him, if someone claims to help him, it is a lie.
“I want to convey, there is no party or anyone in the Indonesian government, both at home and abroad, who claims to have helped or pressured the Saudi government upon my return, so I firmly declare it, big lie. Deception!” Rizieq said via YouTube account Front TV, Wednesday (11/4/2020).

Rizieq said that he did not want to bother, complicate or impose a burden on the Indonesian government in this matter.
He admitted to solving and seeking his own solution to the problem that happened to him.
“I don’t want to be a mess, make it difficult for the Indonesian government, I don’t want to impose a burden, let me carry my burden, I will finish looking for a solution,” he said.
As such, he hopes that no other party claims to have helped him.

Rizieq plans to return to Indonesia on Monday (9/11/2020) and is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday (10/11/2020).
Rizieq’s return to his country after settling in Saudi Arabia since 2017.
His visit to Saudi Arabia could not be separated from the case that caught him in Indonesia, namely the case of his pornographic messages with Firza Hussein.
