Recent reports on Mount Merapi activity, various districts encouraged to prepare for disaster mitigation

PROBOLINGGO PORTAL – Mount Merapi is one of the mountains of Central Java and still has active volcanic activity.

Since November 5, 2020, the state of Mount Merapi is on hold III. For this reason, observations are made every day as well as reports.

In a report from the Center for Research and Development of Geological Disaster Technology (BPPTKG), the report on the results of today’s Mount Merapi activity contained white smoke.

This white smoke has a thick intensity with an altitude of 50 m above the peak of Mount Merapi. Then there were 9 avalanches. The sound varies from weak to moderate.



It was also observed that there was an avalanche from the babadan with a glide distance of approximately 700 m towards Kali Benowo.

Based on this report, the BPPTKG recommended stopping all mining activities in the canals of the rivers that flow into Mount Merapi.
