Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Budi hartono, the richest person in Indonesia, criticized the plan to implement large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) of DKI Jakarta. This criticism was conveyed by the head of PT Djarum in a letter to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, dated September 11, 2020.
The manager of corporate communications, Djarum Budi Dharmawan, confirmed the letter sent by his boss to the president and considered it a natural act.
As a business actor, he said, Budi Hartono hopes that the government can listen to his views and comments.
“There is nothing special in the background of the letter. It is only part of the contribution of citizens, it happens that as a businessman who wants Indonesia to continue advancing,” said Budi. CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (14/9).
However, he did not yet know if the president had responded directly to the letter or had only read it and considered the input provided.
“The examples or solutions presented are accompanied by data and examples. It is not an open letter. So far we don’t know (if it has been answered or not), ”said Budi.
Budi Hartono’s letter was posted on former Polish Ambassador Peter F Gontha’s Instagram @petergontha on Sunday (9/13). Budi considered the plan to implement the PSBB because he considered that the action was not correct.
According to Budi, the PSBB proved ineffective in reducing the growth rate of the infection in Jakarta. He also attached a diagram of the infection growth that was still increasing during the PSBB to strengthen this argument.
On the other hand, Budi said in his letter, the country’s infection rate had actually dropped through measured breaker.
“In Jakarta, even though the DKI Jakarta government has implemented the PSBB, the growth rate of the infection continues to increase,” Budi wrote.
Another reason is the fixed capacity of DKI Jakarta hospitals full with or not to reapply the PSBB. He believed that what the government should have done was set up a separate isolation area to handle the increase in cases.
[Gambas:Video CNN]He cited the image of an isolation site in a Singapore port where the country’s government built an air-conditioned isolation container in anticipation of an increase in cases requiring medical attention.
“Facilities like this can be built and built in a short period of time (less than 2 weeks) because they take advantage of a container that only has air conditioning and stairs installed,” Budi continued in his letter.
For information, to quote Forbes, Budi Hartono and his brother, Michael Hartono, ranked first as the richest person in Indonesia in 2019 with total assets of $ 37.7 billion. As of September 14, 2020, Budi’s total wealth was recorded at $ 17.6 billion. Aside from Djarum, much of that wealth also comes from equity ownership of PT Bank Central Asia (Persero) Tbk.
