Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD in response to the statement of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil related to the chaotic crowd that involved Rizieq Shihab.
Mahfud said that he would be responsible for his statements about the crowd after Rizieq’s return. Mahfud relayed this through his official Twitter account.
“Ready, Kang RK. I am responsible. I announced that HRS will be able to return to Indonesia because it has the legal right to return home,” Mahfud said on @mohmahfudmd on Wednesday (12/16).
Mahfud did not deny RK’s statement. The former president of the Constitutional Court openly acknowledged that whoever announced the Rizieq issue could go to Indonesia.
However, Mahfud said, this was broadcast because Rizieq, as an Indonesian citizen, has the legal right to return to his homeland.
Mahfud also admitted that he had announced the matter of picking up Rizieq from the airport, although he had emphasized that the pick-up process was carried out in an orderly manner.
“I also announced that HRS could be collected in an orderly manner and did not violate health protocols. I also requested that HRS be delivered to Petamburan,” Mahfud said.
Mahfud said the government’s discretion was given to pick up, secure and deliver Rizieq from the airport to Petamburan. According to him, this had been happening in an orderly fashion until Rizieq arrived at his home.
“But the events of the night and the following days that aroused crowds were beyond the discretion that I announced,” Mahfud said.
Earlier, Ridwan Kamil asked Mahfud to take responsibility for the series of crowds since Rizieq Shihab’s arrival in Indonesia.
According to him, this crowd chaos actually started with Mahfud’s statement about Rizieq’s permission to pick up at the airport.
“In my opinion, all the prolonged chaos started with Pak Mahfud’s statement, where the collection of HRS was allowed,” Ridwan Kamil said after undergoing an examination at the West Java Police Headquarters, Bandung, on Wednesday ( 12/16).
