KOMPAS.com – On Monday, April 20, 2020, Pasar Raya Padang was closed for five days after 17 operators in the market tested positive for Covid-19.
Of 17 merchants, three people were declared dead.

Ten days later, the number of positive merchants of Pasar Raya Padang Covid-19 increased. On Saturday (02/05/2020), the number of merchants in Pasar Raya Padang, West Sumatra, which was positive, Covid-19 reached 36 people.

From the results tracking, 36 merchants were in close contact with 1,000 people.
“There are around 1,000 names that we send to the Health Service for them tracking“said the Chief of the City of Padang Endrizal Trade Office, who was contacted by Kompas.com on Saturday (05/02/2020).
Endrizal called on residents who carry out market activities to comply with government requests, such as wearing masks, diligently washing hands, and keeping a distance.
