Former TNI Commander General Purn Djoko Santoso breathed his last breath today, Sunday (05/10/2020). He died after receiving treatment for several days at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital. Djoko Santoso is known to undergo postoperative treatment due to cerebral hemorrhage. The news of the death was transmitted by a member of the PDR Gerindra Faction, Habiburokhman.

“Innalillahi wa innailaihi rajiun passed away Rahmatullah Mr. Djoko Santoso bin Djoko Suyono. Hopefully Allah SWT will accept his religious acts,” he explained when confirmed.

1. education

Djoko attended high school at SMAN 1 Surakarta. Then the man who was born on September 8, 1952 applied to the Military Academy and graduated in 1975.

After that, he actively became a TNI and served on Kostrad. There were many positions he held before becoming TNI Commander.

2. Career

Djoko Santoso’s name shone even more when he served as Commander of Infantry Battalion 330 / Kostrad in 1990. After that, he also served as Assospoldam Jaya in 1995 to Commander of Kodam Jaya in 2003.

In 2005, he rose to the post of Army Chief of Staff. After that, in 2007 he was commissioned to be the TNI Commander during the leadership of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) until 2010.

After his retirement from the armed forces, Djoko joined the Gerindra Party in 2015. In fact, he entered the party council structure.

In yesterday’s 2019 elections, he was also tasked with being the President of the National Winning Agency Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.

In addition to being active in the military and political world, he is known for having served as the President of PBSI. At that time he served for 4 years, from 2008 to 2012.

Djoko died after receiving treatment for postoperative bleeding in the brain from Gatot Subroto Army Hospital. The plan will be buried in the San Diego Hills, Karawang, West Java.

To commemorate Djoko’s departure, TNI will raise the half-mast flag throughout the Army. That was said by the Chief of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Colonel Inf Nefra Firdaus in his press release.

“As a form of respect and deep pain for the departure of the late Army General (Retired) Djoko Santoso, all units of the TNI / TNI Army as of today fly the flag at half-mast,” he explained.
