President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed a molecular diabetes expert, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, as Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes). Dante will be sworn in by Jokowi this morning.
The man who was born in Temanggung on March 23, 1973 completed his general medical education at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Indonesia (FKUI) in 1997.
After that, he immediately went on to specialize in internal medicine at the University of Indonesia and graduated in 2004 with a degree from spPD. He also studied Molecular Diabetes at Yamanashi University, Japan and received his Ph.D.
His activities in the health sector include being a member of the Indonesian presidential team, members of PAPDI (Indonesian Association of Internal Medicine Specialists), Kolegium Perkeni (Indonesian Endocrinology Association, Secretary General Hisobi (Association for the Study of Obesity) Indonesia), Komnas BPOM (Food and Drug Supervision Agency), and Ministry of National Education, Director General of Higher Education.
PAPDI member
The Association of Medical Specialists in Diseases of Indonesia (PAPDI) is an association that is the gathering and unifying of all interns in Indonesia.
Graduated to specialize in 2004, he joined PAPDI (Indonesian Association of Internal Medicine Specialists) in the Endocrine Metabolic Division which deals with problems such as diabetes and thyroid.
Indonesian Endocrinology Association
This 47-year-old man also plays a role in the Indonesian Endocrinology Association (Perkeni). Quoted from the official Perkeni website, he is the Research and Investigation Coordinator.
He also served as president of the Indonesian Obesity Study Association. At that time he always highlighted a series of studies related to obesity of obese people in Indonesia that tends to increase every year, and is common in large cities like Jakarta.
Vice President of PB PASI
Previously, the Vice Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, was also in charge of the Vice President of the Indonesian Athletic Association (PB PASI). This man also previously completed his Ph.D., obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Diabetes, Yamanashi University, and graduated in 2008.

Dante won several awards including the Tajima Diabetes Epidemiology Japan Awards in 2013 and the Takeda Science Foundation Awards from Takeda Japan in 2013.
